Children's Minnetonka is a multi-specialty ambulatory surgery center consisting of five operating rooms. Children's surgery centers are the first and only in Minnesota to be verified as a Level I Children's Surgery Center by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Children's Surgery Verification Quality Improvement Program. Achieving Level I verification is the highest level of distinction for health systems that perform complex surgical procedures in newborns, children and teens.

The pre/post op staff at Children's Minnetonka rotates working in three areas: PlayWait (admitting), PACU (post op recovery) and PH II (recovery, discharge). Our nurses have the ability to work through all specialties in a fast-paced outpatient setting, meeting the needs of children ages 3 months to 20 years of age before and after surgery.

In 2018, we performed 3200 surgeries in these specialty areas: ear, nose and throat (ENT); dental and oral surgery; endoscopy; colonoscopy; plastics; general surgery; ophthalmology; physiatry; and urology.

Position Summary: The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for supporting both the decontamination area and operating rooms within the ambulatory surgery center. This role includes the cleaning, decontamination, and reprocessing of reusable instruments, supplies, and equipment to ensure patient safety and compliance with infection control standards. In addition, the Sterile Processing Technician manages inventory for both reprocessed and single-use supplies, prepares instrumentation and supplies for upcoming surgical procedures, and supports overall department supply and inventory management. This role upholds the mission of Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota by delivering high-quality care in alignment with established standards for customer service, family-centered care, resource utilization, and infection prevention.

Required: *One-year of sterile processing experience and/or experience in medical device reprocessing role or similar experience in an operating room *Sufficient familiarity with surgical instruments to be able to assemble surgical trays Preferred: *Graduate of Central/Sterile Processing Technical College program and/or certification in sterile processing preferred, but not required *Inventory management experience *BLS certification within 6 months of hire Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: *Driving execution of key goals *Fostering open dialogue & teamwork, building relationships *A passion for continuous learning *Strong critical thinking & analytical skills *Excellent communication
