Security Officer

The Security Officer works under the supervision of the Director of Security and the Security Managers. The Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for all persons, equipment, and physical property of Mosaic Life Care.

Responsibilities:

• Conducting patrols of the buildings and grounds ensuring adequate access control and protection of caregivers and all Mosaic Life Care properties and able to respond to an armed threat and bring a safe resolution to the threat or situation.
• Conducting inspections of the facilities looking for unsafe acts and/or conditions which threaten life safety.
• Able to operate in a stressful environment where person/persons have experienced life threatening injuries and death.
• Controlling persons experiencing behavior that is unacceptable via non-violent physical crisis intervention techniques (CPI) or the approved Force Continuum action or other accepted practices dependent upon the circumstances.
• Participating in positive public relations activities by providing assistance with information, directions, and vehicles management.
• Documenting activities and reports on a daily basis providing information to the leadership. Officers will maintain all equipment and vehicles in a constant state of readiness.
• Coordinating traffic and crowd control during emergency situations and provide direction as necessary or requested.
• Respond and investigate incidents in a timely manner and effectively document the facts of the case, take photos of the crime scene, and secure any evidence.
• Direct and/or assist Security Officer (I) in the performance of their duties during their shift.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education:

• H.S. Diploma - GED or HISET equivalent - Required
• Two years college preferably in Criminal Justice, Fire Safety, and/or POST Certified Police Academy - Preferred

Work Experience:

• 2 Years - Position dealing with the public preferably in the Law Enforcement, Fire Safety, Military, Security, Federal (DHS Department of Homeland Security) - Required

Licenses and Certifications:

• Driver's License - Valid In State - Minimum of a Class E Chauffeurs Driver's License - Required Upon Hire
• Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required within 90 Days
• CPI: Nonviolent Crisis Intervention - Required within 90 Days
• HAZMAT Training - Required within 90 Days
• Handcuffing and Baton - Required within 90 Days
• Completion of the International Association of Hospital Safety and Security basic Security Officer Exam - Preferred within 120 Days

Travel Requirements:

• Must be able to travel between various system facilities and off-site locations. - Required
