About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: PCU Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years of previous Cardiac Telemetry RN experience required License: RN License Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS required Must-Have: First-time travelers accepted. Locals not accepted (must be 75+ miles from facility). Description: Ratios 1:4. We care for the adult patient with acute cardiac, vascular, and thoracic needs. We handle open hearts post-op day one, stents, devices, ablations, and chest pain R/O. We administer antiarrhythmic drips (amiodarone, diltiazem) and manage heart failure drips (lasix, bumex, milrinone, dobutamine). We care for patients post vascular and thoracic surgeries. Skills required include accessing/managing ports, blood product administration, cardiac telemetry, and central line care/management. Candidates should have experience with chest tubes, interpretation of dysrhythmias, isolation precautions, and management of cardiac drips. Experience in starting and maintaining IVs and telemetry monitoring is also necessary. Knowledge of rapid response/code teams and wound care is essential. We care for patients of adult and geriatric age groups. Daily patient census is approximately 26, with 29 beds in the unit. Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy. Special patient diagnoses involve acute cardiac, vascular, and thoracic needs.
