Position Summary

The Acute Care Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist provides vital healthcare services by assisting in diagnosis or treatment, performing CT procedures, and related techniques to produce images for interpretation by licensed practitioners. This role involves operating a CT scanner to obtain diagnostic images, utilizing imaging techniques and knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy to ensure high-quality outputs. Technologists will modify technical settings and adjust scanning parameters to enhance imaging quality while minimizing unnecessary exposure.

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduate of a Committee of Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA) accredited Radiology program or equivalent.
• American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) R.T.(R) & advanced registry in CT, R.T.(CT).
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Two (2) years of radiology experience as a registered technologist.

Preferred Qualifications

• One (1) year of previous CT experience in a trauma center (level I or II).

Essential Job Functions

Core responsibilities for the CT Technologist include:

• Performing CT examinations and procedures for departments such as NICU, CCU, and ED as requested.
• Assisting Radiologists and medical staff during examinations and procedures.
• Conducting ancillary duties to maintain proper distribution, billing, and archival of exams and procedures.
• Completing documentation required for interpretation, reporting, archiving, and retrieval of exams.
• Retrieving written orders and health information to ensure timely performance and reporting of exams.
• Participating in the implementation, monitoring, and improvement of quality indicators.
• Working independently in a complex, acute care inpatient setting.
• Training and supporting peers.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and support up to 50 pounds.
• Capability to carry equipment and assist with patient transfers.
• Requires sitting, walking, or standing for extended periods of eight or more hours daily.
• Flexibility to work beyond 40-hour workweeks, including weekends and after-hours shifts.
• On-call availability to respond promptly to organizational and patient needs.
