Rainforest Biologist INTERN

Moody Gardens
Gain first-hand knowledge in the animal husbandry industry while spending a semester in a unique island resort setting. Moody Gardens' goal is to help our interns gain a broader understanding of the industry.
Tasks include, but are not limited to:
- Learn daily husbandry and nutrition for a diverse collection of animals
- Gain experience with hands-on opportunities
- Learn positive reinforcement and environmental enrichment techniques
- Learn proper food preparation techniques and understand system diets
- Gain basic knowledge of water quality and system management
- Work closely with biologists and interact with guests
- Currently studying or recently graduated in a biological science or related field
- Must be reliable and responsible
- Ability to effectively work with internal and external customers
- Capable of lifting a minimum of 50 pounds, climb ladders, stairs and work around water
- Ability to perform duties in confined spaces
- Ability to remain on feet for long periods of time
- Ability to perform duties within extreme weather and temperature ranges
- Must complete online courses and course evaluations
