CustodianGreenville Independent School District Fulltime Custodian Reports to: Custodial Supervisor Work Schedule: 240 Days Position Overview Greenville ISD is seeking dependable and hardworking Custodians to support the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of district campuses and facilities. This position plays an essential role in providing a clean and healthy learning environment for students and staff. Primary Purpose Perform routine custodial duties to maintain district buildings, classrooms, restrooms, and common areas in a clean, safe, and orderly condition in accordance with district standards and safety guidelines. Qualifications Education / Certification: High school diploma or GED preferred (not required) Special Knowledge / Skills: Ability to follow cleaning procedures, safety practices, and verbal/written instructions Knowledge of proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment Ability to work independently and as part of a team Dependable attendance and strong work ethic Experience: Prior custodial or cleaning experience preferred Major Responsibilities and Duties Cleaning & Sanitation Clean and sanitize classrooms, hallways, offices, restrooms, and common areas Sweep, mop, vacuum, and wax floors as needed Empty trash and dispose of waste properly Refill restroom and cleaning supplies Building & Campus Support Assist with setting up and taking down furniture for events or campus activities Report maintenance or safety concerns to supervisors promptly Ensure assigned areas are secure and properly maintained Safety & Compliance Follow district safety procedures and proper chemical handling guidelines Use cleaning equipment safely and correctly Maintain cleanliness standards to support a healthy school environment Working Conditions Physical Demands: Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, and lifting of cleaning supplies Ability to move furniture and operate custodial equipment Environmental Factors: Work indoors and outdoors as assigned Exposure to cleaning chemicals, dust, and varying temperatures Mental Demands: Ability to complete tasks efficiently and maintain attention to detail Maintain professionalism and emotional control in a school environment Why Join Greenville ISD Support safe and welcoming learning environments for students Work in a stable, team-oriented department Year-round schedule aligned with district facility needs Make a meaningful contribution to campus operations every day
