Job Description The Radiation Therapist is responsible for performing the accurate delivery of prescribed ionizing therapeutic radiation under the direction of a Radiation Oncologist, using a variety of complex techniques and equipment. Responsibilities Interpret and implement prescription and treatment plan as directed by the Radiation Oncologist. Educate patients on procedures, skincare, side effects, and nutrition. Perform simulation procedures and prepare immobilization devices for various body parts. Monitor patients' clinical progress, withhold treatment if necessary, and refer patients to the Radiation Oncologist or Executive Director for appropriate intervention. Operate therapeutic equipment, ensure proper patient positioning, monitor the patient during the procedure, and perform related clerical duties. Evaluate and assess treatment machine operations; recognize machine malfunctions and report them to the Executive Director. Communicate clearly and concisely with all members of the health care team, patients, and families. Meet and adhere to strict radiation safety guidelines, internal quality controls, organizational standards, department policies and procedures, and strategic goals. Accurately complete and chart all simulation and treatment summaries, reports, and documentation. Qualifications Graduated from an accredited Radiation Therapy School. Current ARRT and State licensure required and will be verified prior to employment. Current BLS certificate required and will be verified prior to employment. Minimum of six (6) months' experience as a staff therapist preferred; however, willing to train recent graduates. Key Competencies Excellent customer service skills. Attention to detail and willingness to learn. Current knowledge of appropriate clinical practice, radiation protection, and quality assurance. Proficient knowledge of medical terminology. Strong communication skills, both verbal & written. Proficient in computer software and database skills. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Very comfortable asking probing questions to patients. Must demonstrate a caring, compassionate, and patient attitude. Maintain HIPAA compliance. Multitasking and proactive problem-solving. Job Type PRN Pay Range $50.00 - $56.00 per hour PRN, Various shifts and hours per week. Actual compensation offered to candidates is based on work experience, education, skill level, and geographic location. Compensation may vary depending on the state or region in which the position is located, in accordance with applicable laws. This position has no close date.
