Overview Newark Beth Israel Medical Center is a 665‑bed quaternary care teaching hospital that provides comprehensive health care for the region. The Women’s Health Unit offers care in a range of maternal and neonatal settings. Qualifications ASN or Nursing Diploma Minimum 1 year experience in mother/baby, newborn nursery or SCN Strong communication and organizational skills Proficient computer skills Preferred BSN Minimum 1 year of hospital experience Certifications and Licenses Required Active NJ RN license or compact RN license with NJ endorsement BLS from the American Heart Association NRP Certification within 90 days of hire Scheduling Requirements Day Shift, 7a – 7p Part‑Time 24 hours per week Monday – Friday, every other weekend and holiday rotation Essential Functions Provide nursing care within the scope of practice defined by state regulations and the ANA code of ethics. Ensure patient safety and advocate for evidence‑based practice. Report safety issues such as hazardous environments and medical errors. Maintain knowledge of the patient population served. Supervise and delegate tasks to team members; collaborate with other care providers. Set and evaluate priorities through appropriate interventions with measurable outcomes. Use the nursing process to deliver individualized plans of care. Other Duties Administer medications, blood products, and titrated medications according to hospital policy. Provide care to gravid, postpartum patients, and neonates, including blood glucose monitoring. Perform cardiac and respiratory management and electronic fetal monitoring. Manage obstetric emergencies and assist with breastfeeding. Assist with circumcision procedures and transport infants off‑unit for specialty tests.
