Vehicle Condition Inspector

We seek an Inspector to serve as the face of the company, communicating vehicle condition to clients and ensuring high standards of quality. Benefits Multiple medical plans, including a high deductible, low cost health plan Company-sponsored short‑term disability, long‑term disability, and life insurance Comprehensive optional benefits such as dental, vision, supplemental life/AD&D, legal/ID protection, and accident and critical illness insurance Generous paid time off options, including uncapped vacation days, paid sick days, six paid company holidays, two floating holidays, parental leave, bereavement leave, jury duty leave, voting leave, and other forms of paid leave required by law Employee stock purchase program and additional opportunities to earn company stock Retirement planning through the company’s 401(k) Key Responsibilities Actively support efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience Conduct inspections of vehicles at dealerships, auctions, and off‑lease locations to detect damage, missing parts, and mechanical problems Prepare and submit reports of vehicle condition, repair/replacement cost estimates, and related documentation Help the sales team upsell or cross‑sell services and products Interface regularly with dealers to develop client satisfaction and build strong relationships Travel to and from dealerships and homes to inspect vehicles, write condition reports, and list vehicles for sale on the auction platform Take multiple photos of overall and damage areas, match them to a vehicle, and upload them to the image server using the company‑issued smartphone List inspected wholesale vehicles on the ACV Auctions platform for bidding and purchasing Sign up independent dealerships as buyers to use the ACV Auctions digital platform Perform additional duties as assigned Required Qualifications 1+ year of experience in the automobile field (body, paint, and mechanical repair knowledge) with customer service background Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English Ability to work outside in the elements for extended periods of time Problem‑solving aptitude and resourcefulness Proven success working independently with minimal supervision while also functioning in a team environment Excellent communication skills, able to understand customer needs and expectations Valid driver’s license and use of a validly registered and insured motor vehicle Knowledge of system capabilities and relevant software packages and web‑based applications Ability to perform manual labor such as standing for extended periods, lifting at least 25 pounds, bending, and squatting Ability to drive both manual and automatic transmissions Vision required to identify small defects around and under vehicles Our Values Trust & Transparency | People First | Positive Experiences | Calm Persistence | Never Settling ACV is committed to an inclusive culture in which every individual is welcomed and empowered to celebrate their true selves. The position is eligible for additional compensation pursuant to ACV’s incentive compensation plan.
