Registered Nurse (RN) | Dialysis

Position Details Location: Avera Sacred Heart Hospital, Avera, Medical Center (United States of America) Worker Type: Regular Shift: Primarily days with possible weekends/evenings/holidays. Schedule: MWF 5:00am‑5:00pm, Tu/Th/Sat 5:00am‑3:00pm (every 3rd Saturday rotation). Work hours 48hrs/2weeks. Pay: $32.50 – $48.50 per hour (actual rate depends on experience). Student Loan Repayment: Up to $167/month for eligible positions. A Brief Overview Provides care and treatment to patients on maintenance dialysis. Dialysis treatment is provided within the scope of nursing practice. Home dialysis nurses provide major portions of self‑care and home dialysis training for dialysis patients and/or their caregivers. Responsibilities Perform and maintain technical skills for dialysis treatments. Provide oversight and delegation to department staff. Ensure compliance related to water room equipment operation and function. Adhere to departmental policies, scope of care, performance improvement activities, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Document in the patient record according to departmental policy/procedure. Maintain documentation and an environment that complies with state, federal, and regulatory agencies, including CMS/ESRD‑Renal Network, and QAP initiatives. Coordinate care of patients in collaboration with Medical Director, Nephrologist, patients, families, other nursing staff, and ancillary departments. Act as patient/family advocate. Collaborate with the patient, family, and health care providers in providing patient care. Identify patient/family learning needs and develop, implement, and evaluate an educational plan for patients. Provide patient education related to dialysis process and procedures, including care and management of dialysis accesses. Essential Qualifications Ability to work the specified hours. Visual acuity adequate to perform duties. Effective communication skills (hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds). Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience Registered Nurse (RN) – Board of Nursing. Active license in the state of practice. Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience Certified Hemodialysis Nurse (CHN) – Board of Nephrology Examiners Nursing and Technology (BONENT). Certified Peritoneal Dialysis Nurse (CPDN) – Board of Nephrology Examiners Nursing and Technology (BONENT). Certified Dialysis Nurse (CDN) – Nephrology Nursing Certification Commission (NNCC). Specialty Certification – The American Society of Histocompatibility & Immunogenetics (ASHI). Dialysis experience or critical care experience. 1–3 years nursing experience as a home dialysis nurse and an additional 3months experience in each of the modalities (hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis) for which the nurse will provide self‑care training.
