Title: Electrician Department: DT Physical Plant Campus Location: South Campus Employee Classification: POP - Plant Operations Position Type: FT - Regular Grant Funded: No Pay Frequency: Semi-monthly Compensation Details: Starting Pay - $55,700 Work Hours: Monday - Friday 7:00am - 4:00pm, varies based onthe department needs. Remote Eligible: This position is not eligible for remotework Job Summary This role is responsible for planning, arranging, installing, andrepairing wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, andcontrol. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Essential Performance Requirements* Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste ofmaterials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoidunsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent withspecifications and local electrical codes Prepares sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, orfollows diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring isinstalled before completion of future walls, ceilings, andflooring Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installselectrical conduit Pulls wiring through conduit Splices wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads,twisting or soldering wires together, and applying tape or terminalcaps Connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment Installs control and distribution apparatus such as switches,relays, and circuit breaker panels Connects power cables to equipment, such as electric range ormotor, and installs grounding leads Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibilityand safety of components with testing instruments such as ohmmeter,battery and buzzer, and oscilloscope Observes functioning of installed equipment or system to detecthazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement Repairs faulty equipment or systems Cuts and welds steel structural members Completes all assigned work orders and enters comprehensive jobdetails, including labor hours and materials used Service Excellence Participates on behalf of the College in external communityorganizations and associations as assigned to support the essentialperformance requirements Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, andfollows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of theworksite Completes all required training and professional developmentsessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC) Supports the mission, values, goals, and principles of theCollege Supervision Works under the supervision of the assigned department leader *Performs Other Related Tasks as Required The duties listed are intended only as illustrations of thevarious types of work that may be performed.
