Registered Nurse – Labor and Delivery (OB, Night Shift)

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver patient care through the full nursing process including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation across patients from birth to elderly.
• Direct and coordinate nursing care based on established nursing practice standards, applying age-specific considerations and cultural diversity.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare professionals to achieve quality, cost-effective patient outcomes.
• Administer treatments and medications, interpret diagnostic tests, and provide education to patients, families, and significant others.
• Supervise unit secretaries and OB Techs in collaboration with the Charge Nurse.
• Serve as a resource person as clinical situations require, maintaining competencies specific to the OB setting.

Required Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an NLN-approved institution required.
• Current, valid Registered Nurse license in good standing in the State of Alaska.
• Current BLS, NRP, and Fetal Monitoring certifications required.
• Knowledge of AWHONN standards required.
• Proficient oral and written communication skills with the ability to document care delivery accurately.
• Ability to practice nursing in accordance with Alaska statutes governing Registered Nursing practice.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• 1–2 years of recent OB/Labor and Delivery experience preferred.
• National Certification in Obstetrics preferred.
