If you applied in the past, you must re-apply in order to be considered for this position.What you'll do:Lead team of lower-level auto mechanic(s) and/or inmates engaged in automotive maintenance and repairPerform major overhauls of engines or repair most difficult and complex equipment problemsPerform minor and major repairs of vehicles and equipmentAssists inmates/mechanic(s) in diagnosing and resolving mechanical problems, inspects completed work and equipment and ensures that procedures and safety practices are followedEnsures tool control policies and procedures and chemical control policies and procedures are followedRepairs, rebuilds and/or replaces minor and major parts (e.g., electrical system components, alternators, water or fuel pumps, clutches, brake systems)Adjusts valves and performs preventive maintenance and service on vehicles and equipmentPerforms miscellaneous mechanic work (e.g., body repair work, repairs or replaces tires, cleans or replaces diesel injectors)Provides service and repair of vehicles and equipment on emergency basisCleans garage area, equipment and/or toolsMows grassOperates equipment, snow plows and/or tow truckSchedules maintenance and repairs of equipmentMaintains repair or service recordsMaintains required certificationsUpdates shop manuals and parts booksOperates welding equipment (e.g., acetylene torch, MIG welding equipment) to heat, shape and weld machinery and equipmentOperates computer to enter, edit and retrieve data from computer systemsPerforms inventories and/or orders and picks up parts and suppliesWhy work for the State of Ohio:At the State of Ohio, we take care of the team that cares for Ohioans.
