Lead Engineering Technician (Machinery Control Systems)
Senior hands-on machinery control systems technician responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, installing, testing, and upgrading shipboard control-system hardware and software. The role requires extensive Navy/Coast Guard experience, strong electrical troubleshooting skills, machinery-control computer experience, technical leadership, and significant shipyard/waterfront experience.
- 15 years of professional or military experience as an engineering technician.
- 10 years troubleshooting electrical failures using schematics and a digital multimeter, including:
- Signal tracing and fault isolation
- Navy/Coast Guard shipboard or land-based equipment
- Machinery control system installation and operational testing
- Written troubleshooting/test findings
- 10 years working with machinery control system computers, including:
- Reformatting/imaging hard drives
- Installing peripheral equipment, loading software, troubleshooting computer hardware and software.
- 5 years as a lead engineering technician supporting control-system installations or upgrades.
- 3 years supporting machinery control systems on Nimitz-class aircraft carriers (CVN-68 through CVN-77).
- 3 years as a waterfront representative at civilian or military shipyards.
Troubleshoot and repair shipboard electrical/electronic equipment, wiring, connectors, terminal boxes, sensors, switches, and control-system components.
Perform shipboard software loads on Windows/Linux computers, PLC processors/cards, and firmware.
Lead installation and checkout crews during control-system installations and upgrades.
Conduct machinery control system testing during shipboard test evolutions.
Support fabrication and assembly of control panels and consoles.
Maintain test-equipment, calibration, failed-asset, purchasing, and test-procedure tracking.
Provide hands-on training to ship's force and Regional Maintenance Center personnel.
Perform cable routing, wire splicing, rack installation/removal, connector pinouts, and cable terminations.
A particularly valuable candidate is someone with 15+ years as a technician plus Nimitz-class (CVN-6877) machinery control system experience. The packet says those candidates should be escalated immediately.
