Flex RN Internal Agency Contract (CVICU & MSICU)
Location: TriHealth Bethesda North Hospital - 10500 Montgomery Rd, Montgomery, OH Contract Length: 413 weeks Schedule: 3x12 hour night shifts-7:00pm-7:00am/week, every third weekend (minimum), one holiday per contract
Join our elite Critical Care team as a Flex RN, delivering high-acuity care in two of our most advanced units: the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) and the Medical-Surgical Intensive Care Unit (MSICU).
About our Units:
CVICU Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit Our 32-bed CVICU specializes in post-operative care for patients recovering from complex cardiovascular surgeries, including open-heart procedures, heart failure interventions, and vascular surgeries. Nurses in this unit manage advanced technologies such as:
- ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation)
- Impella and Balloon Pumps
- LVADs (Left Ventricular Assist Devices)
- Post-op Open Heart Surgery Care
CVICU nurses receive hands-on experience running ECMO circuits and collaborate closely with cardiothoracic NPs, surgeons, and a multidisciplinary team. We also partner with the Cleveland Clinic to offer premier educational opportunities. Around-the-clock intensivist coverage and holistic support from pharmacists, therapists, and dietitians ensure comprehensive patient care.
MSICU Medical-Surgical Intensive Care Unit Our MSICU is a 28-bed ICU with an adjacent 14-bed Progressive Care Unit (PCU), forming a dynamic environment for high-acuity medical and surgical patients. As a key component of our Level III Trauma and Comprehensive Stroke Programs, the MSICU provides:
- Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT)
- Ultrasound-Guided Peripheral IV (USGPIV) techniques
- Care for trauma, stroke, and soon LVAD patients

Job Overview:
This position applies the nursing process in providing direct and indirect holistic care to patients and their families. The position also collaborates, in a collegial manner, with physicians and other health care team members in meeting the patient's needs. This position may delegate certain aspects of care to those under their direct supervision, within the scope of nursing practice. This position works in a variety of areas across the system, requiring flexibility and a broad range of nursing knowledge.
Job Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (Required) 2 - 3 years Clinical Nursing in Acute Care Setting (Required) Knowledge, judgement, and skills derived from the Principles of Biological, Physical, Behavioral, Social, and Nursing sciences to meet complex health care needs at various stages of the life cycle Basic Life Support (BLS) Required Registered Nurse Required
Job Responsibilities:
Demonstrates organizational responsibilities. Identifies areas for self-improvement through self-assessment and peer review. Functions in roles and provides leadership on the unit as needed and requested. Cooperates with instructor to facilitate learning experiences for students. Demonstrates knowledge and is supportive of organizational and unit changes. Supports organizational activities by participating in activities such as committees, staff meetings, and councils. Utilizes chain of command appropriately. Builds collegial relationships with physicians and other health team members. Demonstrates autonomy in identifying opportunities for process improvement. Maintains and improves current knowledge in area of practice through activities such as continuing education, formal education, professional organization membership, and/or certification. Shares knowledge and skills with colleagues and others. Provides peers with constructive feedback regarding their practice. Evaluates the plan of care for the patient based on optimal specific patient outcomes. Documents the patient/family response to care including teaching. Collaborates with patient/family and with other members of the healthcare team, including physicians, to revise plan of care as needed. Supervises the care that was delegated to other health care team members. Implements plan of care for patient. Provides safe and therapeutic environment while maintaining patient's autonomy, dignity, and rights. Determines plan of care based on ethical principles as outlined in the TriHealth Code of Ethical Business and Professional Behavior. Acts as a patient advocate. Delivers care in a non-judgmental and non-discriminatory manner that is sensitive to patient diversity. Seeks available resources to help formulate ethical decisions. Prioritizes the workload according to patient's needs, requests, and the needs of the unit/facility. Recognizes emergent situations, notifies appropriate personnel, and begins emergency measures. Completes patient assignment inc Performs initial and ongoing assessment of patient and family. Completes initial assessment tool. Documents ongoing assessment per unit/TriHealth guidelines. Communicates assessment findings to other health care providers as appropriate. Includes health counseling and health teaching needs in assessment. Performs technical skills according to policy and procedure and accepted standards within their area of practice. Safely administers medications/treatments and monitors their effects. Uses all equipment in a safe, appropriate manner. Plans care for patient and family based on assessment, standards of care, and optimal specific outcomes. Initiates and individualizes appropriate patient care guidelines/plan of care or clinical pathways. Updates current plan of care as needed based on patient/family input and healthcare needs. Develops both short and long term goals with patient/family and healthcare team including discharge planning. Communicates plan of care to others.
