Painter III Johnston County Public Schools Facility Services - Smithfield, North Carolina Open in Google Maps This job is also posted in Johnston County Public Schools , and North Carolina School Jobs Job Details Job ID: 4553706 Application Deadline: Posted until filled Re-Posted: Jul 30, 2025 12:00 AM (UTC) Starting Date: Immediately Job Description Title: Painter 3 Location: Facility Services Pay Grade: 63 Qualifications: High school diploma or GED preferred 5+ years experience preparation and painting 1+ years experience patching and drywall finishing. must possess a valid driver’s license Reports to: Paint Foreman Duties and Responsibilities: Uses the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while performing duties Prioritizes the safety of themselves and others around their work area. Understands the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) of products being applied and how product(s) may impact themselves and others Applies paint to interior and exterior of buildings, furniture and other structures by brush, roller or spray equipment. Applies waterproofing materials to exterior of buildings Ability to erect and remove portable mechanical scaffolding Prepares and cleans surfaces by use of sandpaper, burners, scrapers, sanding machines, dusters and paint removers Maintains a clean work area and leaves a quality finished product Properly cleans painting equipment and tools to mitigate the need for replacement Ability to routinely climb and work from ladders safely (3 points of contact) Work from elevated platforms: E.g. scissor lifts, atrium lift heights up to but not limited to 60’ (Training and safety harnesses will be provided) Ability to work around students and staff Serves as team player and role model for other employees in the organization; demonstrates a commitment to continued quality improvement; supports and exhibits organization’s core values of caring; respect, integrity, responsibility, high expectations, being customer driven, and valuing diversity Demonstrates time management skills and prioritizes work properly Proficient in at least two of the following: plastering, spray painting, drywall finishing Performs other duties and accepts responsibilities as assigned Physical Requirements: Must be able to perform medium/ heavy lifting exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally Must be able to climb ladders and work in outdoor environments, heat/cold.
