Commerce Platform Lead

Description: Arhaus is looking for a Commerce Platform Lead, to serve as the expert responsible for platform strategy, configuration, ecosystem management, and long-term evolution. The lead will ensure platform health, scalability, and alignment with Arhaus’s multi-channel commerce strategy while partnering with internal stakeholders and external agencies to drive successful delivery and adoption. This role owns end-to-end Shopify platform leadership across administration, architecture, ecosystem governance, and enablement. Key fundamental skill sets and responsibilities include: Serve as the internal subject matter expert for Shopify, including platform capabilities, limitations, and best practices Own platform administration: configurations, user roles, permissions, store organization, and channel management Monitor platform performance, stability, and releases; manage escalation with Shopify support and account teams Establish governance for Shopify apps, integrations, and custom extensions, including evaluation, approval, and lifecycle management Maintain inventory and ownership of all platform components, dependencies, and integrations Partner with external agencies and SI partners on extension design, development decisions, and architecture tradeoffs Provide platform leadership on delivery milestones and ensure future scalability for enterprise platform migration Advise on headless commerce architecture, including Storefront API, Hydrogen/Oxygen, and multi-channel design Define standards, documentation, and best practices to drive consistency across the Shopify ecosystem Enable internal teams (product, engineering, business stakeholders) through training and guidance on platform usage Stay current on Shopify roadmap, releases, and partner ecosystem; provide forward-looking recommendations Build and scale a Shopify platform team over time, including defining structure, hiring profiles, and operating model Requirements: 5+ years of hands-on Shopify experience across eCommerce and Shopify POS in a retail or omnichannel environment Experience with Shopify Plus or Enterprise environments, including multi-store and organization-level administration Deep expertise in Shopify app ecosystem, third-party integrations, and custom extensions Strong understanding of Shopify technical architecture: Storefront API, Admin API, Shopify Functions, Flow, Liquid, headless commerce patterns, and checkout extensibility Experience working alongside or managing external agencies or SI partners Familiarity with payment integrations such as Shopify Payments, Adyen, or similar platforms is preferred Arhaus is an Equal Opportunity Employer and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any kind.
