We are one of the oldest and largest networks in Detroit with three districts; University Prep Art & Design, University Prep Science and Math, and University Preparatory Academy, to include the new Ford Law Career Academy. One of our most distinctive defining differences that originated over 20 years ago, is the Detroit 90/90 Promise; a promise to our families that all U Prep scholars will achieve a 90% graduation and 90% college acceptance rate. What will your role be?

As a teacher, you will be responsible for implementing curriculum, maintaining a positive classroom culture, using assessments to drive instructional practice, and for contributing to the educational and social development of all students by implementing culturally relevant teaching practices. U Prep teachers use district resources in an efficient and responsible manner and participate in professional development.

Key Responsibilities

• Actively participate in professional development opportunities and implements best practices acquired that focuses on instruction and high student achievement.
• Provide instruction that is culturally responsive and culturally sustaining.
• Builds relationships with students to create a positive, structured learning environment where students feel safe, supported and empowered to grow
• Actively engage parents in the learning process and works collaboratively with families
• Use data to refine lesson plans and inform instructional practices

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in content area
• Valid Michigan teaching certification with endorsement in content preferred
• Eligibility to work in the United States on a full-time basis
