About the Opportunity

Our client, a leading manufacturer of high-efficiency water heating systems, is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support the development of next-generation water heater products. This role will focus on designing and refining mechanical components, including heat exchanger concepts, while working in a fast-paced product development environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer or Mechanical Designer with SolidWorks experience who is looking to gain hands-on manufacturing and product development experience. The client has a long history of extending and converting successful consultants into long-term opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical designs for water heaters and related components to support new product development initiatives.

• Create, modify, and maintain 3D models, assemblies, and detailed engineering drawings using SolidWorks.

• Manage design revisions and engineering documentation within SolidWorks PDM.

• Design and optimize sheet metal components and assemblies.

• Execute multiple design concepts simultaneously to support aggressive project timelines.

• Collaborate with engineering leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure designs align with technical and business objectives.

• Support design reviews by preparing drawings, models, and technical documentation.

• Incorporate testing results and engineering feedback into ongoing design improvements.

• Follow engineering standards, best practices, and internal development processes.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology.

• 3+ years of mechanical design experience.

• Proficiency with SolidWorks, including:

• Parts

• Assemblies

• Detailed Drawings

• Experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).

• Experience designing sheet metal components and assemblies.

• Understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals.

• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with SolidWorks PDM.

• Experience working with large assemblies and configurations.

• Manufacturing or product development experience.

• Familiarity with fasteners and mechanical component design.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).

Work Environment

• Onsite role located in Blauvelt, NY.

• First shift schedule with a start time of 7:00 AM or 7:30 AM.

• Reports directly to the Director of R&D.

• Collaborative engineering and manufacturing environment focused on innovation and product development.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $43.27/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
