Job Opportunity

Position Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) Public Health Case Manager is responsible for overseeing comprehensive case management for individuals requiring public health care services. This includes well-child checkups, immunizations, tuberculosis and other infectious disease screening and diagnostic testing, chronic health condition management, and conducting case investigations related to infectious diseases.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the design, execution, monitoring, quality assurance, and assessment of public health programs, including Well Child and Immunization initiatives.
• Identify areas for program improvement and propose effective strategies to enhance performance.
• Provide on-site training and support to Community Health Aides and Practitioners (CHA/Ps) in administering public health tests, examinations, and immunizations.
• Deliver education on immunizations, chronic care, preventive health examinations, and diagnostic testing to diverse audiences.
• Assist in Health Aide Training and Continuing Medical Education (CME) events for CHA/Ps and clinical staff.
• Coordinate with other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Maintain accurate patient records and monitor progress to ensure health needs are effectively met.
• Stay updated on current public health knowledge and developments to improve patient outcomes and program effectiveness.

Position Qualifications

• Minimum Education: Diploma, Associate of Applied Science, or Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Master of Science in Nursing preferred.
• Minimum Experience: 2 years of relevant experience as an RN or in a public health-related field. A higher-level degree may substitute for equivalent professional experience.
• License, Certification, Registration: Current RN licensure in the State of Alaska is required. Current BLS certification is mandatory; ACLS and PALS certifications are recommended.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in MS Office software, including Word, Excel, and Access.
• Adequate computer skills and ability to adapt to Cerner and its modules within three months of hire.
• Specialized knowledge of Pediatric care is essential.
• Experience in teaching and working in cross-cultural settings is preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; fluency in Yugtun is a plus.

Supervisory Responsibilities

The incumbent must demonstrate the ability to mentor and guide student Health Aides and Health Aides in developing the necessary skills to successfully deliver well-child exams and administer immunizations.

Additional Information

This position requires traveling to various villages to provide services and training. Proof of completed COVID vaccinations is mandatory for all travelers.
