Job Purpose The Engineering Technician is responsible for the reliability and technical oversight of raw‑milk processing and filtration equipment. This includes the planning and execution of projects as well as providing advanced technical support. Responsibilities Provide technical solutions and expertise in engineering and maintenance for milk receiving, separators, membrane filtration, and CIP systems; serve as a top resource and technical expert for plant‑processing equipment. Partner with equipment and maintenance technicians to enhance overall technical knowledge and equipment performance. Support production through advanced equipment troubleshooting. Engineer solutions to improve overall equipment reliability. Determine root cause of reliability failures and implement preventive measures. Analyze machine efficiency and reliability data to identify performance improvement opportunities. Train maintenance and equipment technicians to grow overall technical capabilities. Perform miscellaneous job‑related duties as assigned. Skills & Qualifications Engineering education or equivalent hands‑on experience with 5+ years applying engineering principles in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Proven ability to lead complex technical problem‑solving using data, structured tools, and root‑cause analysis. Demonstrated success designing, implementing, and sustaining equipment and process improvements. Strong hands‑on technical knowledge of manufacturing and processing equipment, including PLCs, instrumentation, motors, pumps, valves, and mechanical systems. Experience leading or significantly contributing to controls and automation efforts (e.g., PLC programming, RSLogix 5000, VFDs, historians, sensors). Ability to read and interpret mechanical, P&ID, and electrical schematics to support design, troubleshooting, and improvement work. Capability to lead technical initiatives, mentor others, and drive continuous improvement across engineering and maintenance disciplines. Experience in food and beverage manufacturing (dairy preferred) with working knowledge of FDA/PMO requirements or the ability to quickly learn and apply them in a fast‑paced environment. Working Conditions & Physical Requirements Ability to sit, stand, and walk for prolonged periods. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. Reaching and bending as necessary to service equipment. Exposure to industrial hazards (plant utility systems). Any other physical requirements. Food Safety Requirements Notify supervision of any repairs or adjustments that affect product quality or food safety. Understand, observe, and comply with the handling and use of the color‑coded container policy while in the Production Areas. Perform duties necessary to meet Company, Customer, and/or Government requirements/standards as prioritized by the Company. Initiate action to prevent non‑conformities relating to food safety and product quality. Identify and record any food‑safety related problems. Control further processing or delivery of non‑conforming product until the deficiency is corrected. Maintain responsibilities when another employee assumes duties in absence. Reports To: Engineering and Reliability Manager, Processing Exempt/Nonexempt: Exempt Base Pay: $100,000 - $120,000 USD Base pay offered may vary depending on geography, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience.
