Mental Health Security Unit Supervisor (Team Lead)

Overview Position: Team Leader / Mental Health Security Unit Supervisor (Full‑Time) at the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Behavioral Health – Lincoln Regional Center. Shift options: 1st and 3rd. Salary: $30.005/hour, increases to $31.506/hour post‑probation. Key Responsibilities Plan, schedule, and supervise staff during assigned shifts/programs. Provide day‑to‑day leadership and direction to staff to meet patient needs and treatment plans. Conduct administrative supervision: performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, time‑keeping, hiring. Ensure staff training, competency, and adherence to DHHS and LRC policies. Maintain effective communication with administrative and program staff for continuity of care. Assist patients with personal hygiene, grooming, activities of daily living, and group activities; ensure schedules are followed. Participate in patient care plans; foster therapeutic and safe environment. Direct and maintain a safe, secure, and clean environment for patients and staff. Requirements / Qualifications Minimum: Coursework/training in human services, social/behavioral sciences, mental health care or related field OR experience providing direct care to patients with mental illness or other disabilities. Experience leading, coordinating, directing, monitoring or supervising others. Age: at least 19 years for adults, 21 years for adolescents. Valid driver’s license; High School Diploma or GED. Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking). Knowledge: supervisory principles, security in behavioral health, care techniques, human behavior, instructional methods. Skills: active listening, communication, teaching, mentoring, conflict resolution, de‑escalation, staff performance evaluation, interpretation of regulations, teamwork, reporting, security standards, decision making under pressure, patient handling. Preferred: previous supervisory experience, behavioral health experience, familiarity with Lincoln Regional Center policies.
