Duration: Approx. 3 months (contract)

Overview


We are seeking a Senior Python Machine Learning Engineer to take ownership of a prototype classification model and transform it into a production-ready solution. This role involves refactoring an existing Python proof of concept (POC), improving its design, and integrating it as a hosted service that communicates with a .NET application. You will also collaborate with the team building a parallel ML.NET solution and ensure alignment with long-term goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Refactor and enhance an existing Python POC for binary classification.
• Develop and deploy a classification model for freight inspection decisions based on historical data.
• Implement data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model training using in-house resources (no cloud services).
• Collaborate with the NET team to ensure backend compatibility and knowledge transfer.
• Train, retrain, and maintain the model for ongoing accuracy.
• Replace mock data with production datasets from an Oracle on-prem database .
• Write and optimize SQL queries for data aggregation and retrieval.
• Ensure proper integration and feedback loop for inspectors via the frontend application.

Technical Requirements

• Expertise in Python and ML/AI frameworks (e.g., scikit-learn; TensorFlow not required).
• Strong experience in binary classification models (e.g., decision trees).
• Ability to build and deploy APIs/services for Python applications.
• Solid understanding of SQL and data preprocessing; Oracle experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with ML.NET is beneficial but not mandatory.
• Experience working with on-prem environments and avoiding cloud dependencies.
• Strong debugging, optimization, and code quality skills.
