Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours (3 shifts per week) Experience: Minimum one (1) year of relevant nursing experience License: State RN License in good standing Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association) Must-Have: Trauma 1 and EPIC experience required Description: The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver. The RN assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame. The RN provides care to patients utilizing the nursing process, nursing trends, and technology. The RN maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided. The RN completes initial assessments upon patient admission. The RN develops appropriate plans of care based on patient and family needs. The RN implements plans of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. The RN modifies plans of care based upon continuous evaluation. The RN takes responsibility for patient and employee safety. The RN communicates with others directly and in private when necessary to resolve issues. The RN offers constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers. The RN confers with colleagues to expand knowledge base. The RN identifies own learning needs and takes initiative to begin appropriate solutions. The RN fulfills all departmental competency requirements. The RN provides post-operative care for the complex surgical population. The RN assesses and intervenes appropriately to ensure positive outcomes during the post-operative phase. The RN monitors and cares for newly tracheostomies. The RN assesses and maintains wounds that require complex wound management. The RN assesses, manages, and educates patients and families on new ostomies. The RN works collaboratively with surgical residency services.
