Electrical Estimator

e&e is seeking an Electrical Estimator for an onsite contract opportunity in Huntington Valley, PA or Cherry Hill, NJ! We are seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to develop accurate, competitive cost estimates for electrical construction projects. This position will independently manage assigned estimates while collaborating with project and estimating team members and reporting to the Chief Electrical Estimator. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of electrical construction, blueprint interpretation, labor and material costs, and industry codes and standards. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to identify cost-saving opportunities while developing competitive and profitable project bids. Key Responsibilities Prepare detailed electrical construction estimates by reviewing proposals, blueprints, specifications, drawings, and related project documentation. Identify labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and time requirements for electrical projects. Analyze blueprints and drawings to determine conduit and wire lengths, quantities, and installation requirements. Determine the quantity, type, and cost of major electrical commodities, including switchgear, lighting, special systems, and other project-specific materials. Calculate labor requirements and associated costs necessary to complete projects. Utilize Excel and electrical estimating/pricing software to develop accurate project estimates. Evaluate whether electrical components should be constructed internally or subcontracted based on labor, material, schedule and overall project costs. Prepare cost estimates throughout various stages of design, from conceptual through basic and detailed design. Analyze project costs and potential profitability to support management in making informed bidding decisions. Identify value-engineering and cost-saving opportunities to improve project profitability. Prepare and submit competitive project bids in accordance with established guidelines and deadlines. Review cost records and ensure construction costs are properly categorized and allocated. Maintain and regularly update estimating databases and organizational cost standards. Monitor market pricing and trends for electrical equipment, construction materials, and labor. Review and interpret one-line diagrams, schematics, P&IDs, layout drawings, wiring diagrams, and other construction documents. Collaborate with estimating, engineering, project management, and construction teams throughout the bidding process. Maintain organized and accurate estimating documentation and project records. Requirements 5+ years of electrical estimating experience. Strong knowledge of electrical construction methods, materials, equipment, and labor requirements. Ability to read and interpret complete construction drawing packages, including electrical and non-electrical blueprints. Strong understanding of NEC, NFPA, UL, and ISA standards as they relate to electrical design and documentation. Knowledge of electrical area classification requirements. Understanding of wiring techniques, color coding, conductor sizing and derating, and insulation classifications. Ability to read and interpret one-line diagrams, schematics, P&IDs, layout drawings, and wiring diagrams. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, and electrical estimating or pricing software. Strong analytical and mathematical skills with the ability to develop accurate cost estimates. Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify cost-effective project solutions. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Strong customer service and interpersonal skills. Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment. Hands-on electrical construction experience is a plus. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred but not required. #J-18808-Ljbffr
