Title: Middle School Boys Head Basketball Coach Location: Greenville Middle School Classification: Athletic Coach Reports to: Director of Athletics Schedule: Seasonal Salary: $2,324 - $4,183 per season, based upon relevant prior experience Benefits: This position does not meet the requirements for benefit eligibility Position Summary The Middle School Boys Head Basketball Coach will prioritize player growth by fostering teamwork and sportsmanship, developing fundamental skills, and creating a positive athletic experience for student athletes. Duties and Responsibilities Plan, organize, and lead daily practices that emphasize skill development, teamwork, and game understanding Coach all scheduled games, tournaments, and scrimmages Teach and reinforce proper basketball techniques, rules, and strategies appropriate for the middle school level Promote a safe, supportive, and respectful team culture Provide mentorship and guidance to student athletes both on and off the court Communicate clearly with players, parents, and school staff about schedules, expectations, and team updates Supervise athletes before, during, and after practices and games Maintain and care for equipment, uniforms, and facilities Encourage academic responsibility and positive behavior in student athletes Commitment to regular and predictable attendance Adherence to Greenville Public Schools core values: integrity, collaboration, compassion, and responsibility Qualification Requirements Previous coaching or playing experience in basketball Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, rules, and teaching techniques Excellent communication and organizational skillsAbility to motivate and connect with young athletes Satisfactory background check Education Requirements High school diploma or equivalent Physical Demands The employee must be able to: Stand for extended periods during practices and games Sit for extended periods on buses for away games and tournaments Perform and demonstrate basketball skills and movements such as passing, dribbling, and shooting Move up and down the court, observe players, and actively engage with them React quickly in fast-paced game play and to ensure player safety Lift and move basketballs, training gear, and other equipment (typically up to 25-50 lbs) Project voice loudly and clearly in noisy environments Maintain composure under stress Additional Information The above is intended to describe the general content of and requirements for the performance of this position.
