Job Title: General Laborer – Leak Tester and Production Support Job Description

This role focuses on quality control as a leak tester for welded tanks while also supporting production preparation activities. You will mix and manage testing solutions, perform leak tests on welded seams, complete inspection documentation, and assist with preparing welded pieces for painting using hand and power tools. You will work closely with welders, leak testers, and production team members to ensure products meet quality standards and production goals.

• Fill spatter spray and leak test bottles each morning and as needed throughout the day.
• Follow the specified ingredient lists to mix spatter spray and leak test solutions accurately.
• Gather and stage leak test and spatter spray bottles before production begins.
• Use a radio to communicate clearly and professionally with welders and other leak testers.
• Coordinate and schedule leak tests in a timely manner using proper communication practices.
• Complete leak test inspection sheets accurately and thoroughly.
• Maintain a high level of attention to detail during all leak testing and quality checks.
• Spray all welded seams and burn marks during leak tests according to established procedures.
• Follow all documented leak test procedure forms and quality standards.
• Perform primary quality control duties as a leak tester for welded tanks.
• Support the prep team by preparing welded pieces for painting using grinders or wire wheel hand-held power tools to remove weld splatter.
• Perform general production tasks such as cleaning, loading, picking, packing, and using tape measures and hand tools as needed.
• Work collaboratively within a team environment to meet and exceed company expectations for productivity and quality.
• Maintain reliable attendance and adhere to company expectations for punctuality and presence.

• Experience performing quality checks, including leak testing or similar quality assurance activities (minimum 6+ months; preferred 1+ year).
• Experience working in a production setting (minimum 1+ year).
• Experience working within metal fabrication environments (minimum 6+ months; preferred 1+ year).
• Ability to use hand tools safely and effectively.
• Ability to operate power tools such as grinders and wire wheel hand-held tools to remove weld splatter.
• Basic understanding of quality assurance principles and inspection documentation.
• Ability to read and follow ingredient lists and procedure forms accurately.
• Strong attention to detail when inspecting welded seams and completing inspection sheets.
• Ability to use a tape measure and perform basic measurements as part of general production tasks.
• Effective communication skills for coordinating with welders, leak testers, and other production staff using radios and verbal communication.
• Ability to perform general production tasks such as cleaning, loading, picking, and packing.

• 1+ year of experience performing quality checks in a production or manufacturing environment (preferred).
• 1+ year of experience in a production setting (preferred, with 1+ year as a minimum requirement).
• 1+ year of experience working in metal fabrication environments (preferred, with at least 6+ months required).
• Comfort working around welded tanks and metal fabrication processes.
• Ability to follow structured procedures and adhere to established safety and quality guidelines.
• Strong teamwork skills and a willingness to support various production tasks as needed.

This is a Contract position based out of Fairmont, MN.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.50/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Fairmont,MN.
