Job Title: CNC Machinist / CNC Mill Operator

Job Description

This role operates CNC mills to produce precision parts that fully comply with customer prints and quality standards. You will set up and run CNC equipment, perform offsets and tool changes, interpret blueprints and G&M codes, and verify part dimensions using precision measuring tools. The position focuses on efficient, safe, and high-quality production in a team-oriented manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC mills to manufacture production parts in full compliance with supplied customer prints.

• Perform machine offsets and tool changes to optimize part quality and machining efficiency.

• Read and interpret blueprints and G&M codes to ensure accurate machining operations.

• Use precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, dial calipers, height gauges, and bore gauges to verify part dimensions.

• Record measurements accurately on inspection reports to document part compliance.

• Ensure all tools, measuring devices, and gauges used for inspection are calibrated and fit for service.

• Develop and maintain optimal and efficient operation of CNC equipment to meet customer and company objectives.

• Produce high-quality parts with a focus on building them right the first time and not deviating from established processes.

• Communicate effectively with the Plant Manager and Department Lead to receive instructions and clarify requirements.

• Escalate nonconformances and quality issues to the Quality Manager in accordance with company procedures.

• Follow and utilize the company’s quality management system and maintain familiarity with ISO requirements.

• Adhere to all safety procedures and workplace rules to maintain safe operations.

• Work independently while contributing positively to a team-oriented environment.

• Demonstrate ownership of work, maintain positive morale, and actively support a strong team atmosphere.

• Operate multiple machines as needed to support production requirements.

• Safely operate overhead cranes and jib cranes when required for handling materials or setups.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 2+ years of experience in CNC mill machining production.

• Proficiency operating CNC mills, including performing offsets and tool changes.

• Experience with Fanuc controls; experience with Samsung and Haas CNC machines preferred.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints accurately.

• Ability to read and work with G&M codes.

• Strong understanding and use of precision measuring equipment, including dial calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and height gauges.

• Ability to perform basic math and apply it to machining calculations.

• Ability to record measurements accurately on inspection and quality reports.

• Capability to operate multiple machines in a production environment.

• Ability to safely operate overhead cranes and jib cranes.

• Familiarity with ISO requirements and quality management systems.

• Strong safety awareness and adherence to safety procedures.

• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively within a team environment.

• Commitment to producing high-quality parts and following established processes without deviation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Two-year certificate in machine trades preferred.

• Preferred experience with Samsung and Haas CNC machines equipped with Fanuc controls.

• Preferred knowledge of tooling and insert changes and programming tool offsets.

• Good general math skills to support machining and inspection tasks.

• Ability to understand and utilize various measurement equipment for in-process and final inspection.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with others in a production setting.

• Positive attitude, strong sense of ownership, and enjoyment of hands-on machining work.

Work Environment

This is a first-shift position with hours from 6:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Friday, with some overtime available as needed. The role is based in a production machining environment operating CNC mills with Fanuc controls, including Samsung and Haas machines. Work involves standing at machines, handling parts, and using overhead and jib cranes for safe material movement. The facility follows defined safety procedures and workplace rules, with a strong focus on safe operations, quality standards, and teamwork.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mount Pleasant, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
