Responsibilities Help to build robust, highly scalable services that support millions of users as part of the Energy Services Engineering team. Participate in early development investigations, prototypes, and 3rd‑party integrations. Collaborate with passionate problem solvers, designing and building impactful, best‑in‑class services for one of Apple’s most innovative spaces. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering or 3+ years of equivalent industry experience. Extensive experience architecting, building, and maintaining mission‑critical distributed systems at large scales. Deep understanding of distributed systems fundamentals and trade‑offs in consistency, latency, and throughput. Commitment to engineering excellence, continuous improvement, and the curiosity to evaluate and advocate for new technologies and patterns. Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing, to drive consensus on complex technical concepts with diverse audiences. Track record of building and sustaining healthy long‑term relationships and technical influence within your team and beyond. Tenacity and perseverance to lead complex projects from conception to production. Experience using generative AI tools throughout the software development lifecycle to produce high‑quality software. Ability to work with cross‑functional partners to define product objectives. Passion for people, code, and improving our future. Preferred Qualifications Deep hands‑on software development experience with Java or Kotlin and Spring. Proven development and operational experience with high‑volume REST and/or gRPC services (server‑to‑server or mobile client‑facing). Strong experience designing for containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes). Significant experience architecting, building, and operating cloud‑native applications (AWS) with resilience, failover, and self‑healing core features. Expertise in designing robust CI/CD pipelines and defining infrastructure as code. Extensive experience with observability strategies and tools (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Datadog). Deep understanding of modern networking and experience using traffic tools for tracing and debugging. Fundamental appreciation for and understanding of security, privacy, and cryptography (PKI, certificate management, JWT). Hands‑on experience optimizing SQL/NoSQL databases for scale (Aurora, DynamoDB, CockroachDB, Oracle). Domain knowledge of the utility industry, electrical grid or renewable energy. Compensation & Benefits Base pay range: $171,600 – $258,100 (determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location).
