Yard Driver

Wed-Sat (4PM-2:30AM)
Summary: Drives a gas or diesel powered tractor trailer combination in order to move trailers and containers from door to door. Move trailers from door to door by using a company software program. A CDL license is required for this position.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Drives trailers and containers from door to door in a yard setting, no over the road driving.


Opening and closing trailer doors when making moves.


Updating moves made throughout the shift by using a company software program.


Work with other drivers to complete moves in the most efficient manner possible.


Conducts daily inspections to ensure trucks safety.


Company drivers hired with a Class C license commit to getting their Class A permit within the first 90 days of employment and subsequently their Class A license within the 90 days following that.


Supervisory Responsibilities


There are no supervisory responsibilities with this position.


Safety and Security - Observes safety and security procedures; Determines appropriate action beyond guidelines; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly.


Special Qualifications


Candidates for this position must meet all DOT qualification guidelines.


Education and/or Experience


Two years specific experience as a Yard Driver.

Must pass DOT physical While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand. The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.


Work Environment


The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Must be able to work in all weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
