Description: The position is for a Medical Surgical Registered Nurse. Shifts are 4x12s, days from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. The nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:6-7. The staffing plan supports normal ratios of 1:6. If there is an unplanned absence that cannot be covered, the unit may flex to a ratio of 1:7. There is a requirement for weekend shifts every other weekend. On-call duty is required on an as-needed basis for low census situations. Travelers will need to float within scope to meet facility needs. The unit cares for adults and geriatric patients with typical medical surgical diagnoses. Daily census and specific patient numbers are not specified. Interdisciplinary support is available, including IV teams, physical therapy, and rapid response teams. Special procedures and care include managing various medical conditions and utilizing telemedicine equipment. Travelers should be prepared to respond to emergency situations during hurricane season, with awareness of possible assignment to emergency response teams. All time off requests must be included at the time of submission. There is a policy regarding locals, prioritizing non-local candidates. Previous staff must be separated from the system for one year before returning as travelers. A valid South Carolina RN license is prioritized, with consideration for pending licenses if proof of application is provided.
