Machine Operator | 2nd Shift | $18-21+HR

This role operates a variety of production machines on 2nd shift, setting up and running equipment according to detailed specifications to support high-quality manufacturing. You will interpret blueprints and job orders, adjust machine settings, perform basic measurements, and maintain a safe, organized work area while contributing to efficient, high-volume production.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate shop machinery in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, job orders, routers, and diagrams to select appropriate dies, position workpieces, and secure machinery.
• Follow all operating procedures and work instructions to ensure consistent and safe machine operation.
• Adjust machine settings to meet job specifications, run orders accurately, and maximize productivity.
• Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to supervisors promptly.
• Communicate process and quality improvement opportunities through the internal reporting system.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation by following the shop's 5S system.
• Use measuring and hand tools such as tape measures, dial calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify product dimensions and quality.
• Perform basic math, including counting and simple calculations, to support accurate production and documentation.
• Follow directions accurately and consistently to meet production and quality requirements.
• Operate slitter machinery and other production equipment as needed.
• Perform machine setups, including installing tooling, adjusting settings, and preparing materials for production runs.
• Lift and move materials up to 50 lbs as part of daily machine operation and setup tasks.

Essential Skills

• At least 1 year of machine operating or manufacturing experience.
• Ability to set up and operate production machinery in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, work instructions, job orders, and specifications.
• Ability to perform basic math, including counting and simple calculations.
• Proficiency using measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, dial calipers, and tape measures.
• Experience operating slitter machinery or similar equipment.
• Strong manual dexterity for handling parts, tools, and machine adjustments.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs safely and repeatedly as required.

Work Environment

The role is based in a highly organized, extremely clean manufacturing facility that emphasizes order and safety through a 5S system. The position works on 2nd shift from 5:15 pm to 3:45 am, Monday through Thursday, with the possibility of overtime on Fridays. While the facility is not fully temperature controlled, numerous fans are in place throughout the plant to help maintain a comfortable working environment. Team members operate a variety of machines, including slitter and press equipment, and use tools such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, tape measures, and other hand tools as part of daily operations. The environment supports structured processes, clear workflows, and a strong focus on quality and efficiency.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of NORTH RIDGEVILLE, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $21.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
