District Planning Specialist Join the Clean Energy Revolution Southern California Edison (SCE) is seeking a District Planning Specialist to shape reliable and efficient power for residential and commercial projects. You will design construction plans, manage projects to completion, collaborate with diverse customers and stakeholders, oversee budgets and timelines, and make impactful decisions that keep communities powered. Responsibilities Develop and prepare construction plans, drawings, or circuit maps; design electrical distribution plans, identify necessary resources, provide cost estimates, and ensure compliance with policies, procedures, rules, and rates. Perform calculations relevant to design with the latest SCE standards and request engineering studies when necessary. Interact with a diverse customer base to meet electrical design needs and deliver successful outcomes for both customers and SCE on assigned projects. Participate in small to medium‑sized residential, commercial, and industrial projects, assist in determining scope of work, method of service, and construction methods for distribution overhead and underground facilities, and maintain an up‑to‑date understanding of industry practices and standards. Provide technical support to licensing and certification proceedings related to new distribution/transmission lines and substation sites. Stay current with industry practices, standards, and customer needs. Identify environmental requirements and coordinate required project components with other departments, customers, governmental bodies, and external partners. Support project drawings and budgets by monitoring internal and external customer timelines and expectations. Manage multiple projects using project management principles, tools, and techniques, effectively under tight time constraints and shifting priorities, and make critical decisions with minimal supervision. Manage project risks, resolve issues, and handle escalations that impact scope, timeline, and budget, including work order pricing. Perform field inspections to gather data relevant to the planning and development review process and verify that projects comply with approved plans. Ensure the protection of company assets, properly access and manage sensitive information, and maintain the highest standards of conduct and integrity. Minimum Qualifications One or more years of experience in Electrical Utility Distribution/Transmission/Telecommunication Design, Distribution/Transmission/Telecommunication Line Construction, or a related Engineering discipline. Valid Class C Driver's License. Preferred Qualifications Basic understanding of engineering principles, construction standards, and industry practices. Experience with design tools such as CAD, GIS, or similar systems. Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Experience in customer service, project coordination, or similar support roles. Training or education in engineering, pole loading, drafting, construction, mapping, math, science, or IT. Ability to read or create simple distribution or technical drawings. Ability to adapt to competing priorities while maintaining accuracy. Ability to collaborate effectively across teams (clients, peers, management, agencies). Completion of a Planner Utility Certification Program. Experience managing customer or stakeholder interactions in a technical, construction, or utility environment, including providing clear information, addressing inquiries, and coordinating solutions. Additional Information Work mode is hybrid. Employees will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days and may work remotely on remaining days. Employees must work and reside in California. The primary work location is Torrance, CA (South Bay Service Center). Employees may be asked to work at alternate locations for extended periods. Position requires up to 25% travel and field work throughout the SCE service territory. Work schedule may be a 9/80 Alternate Work Schedule or 40 hours per week. No relocation support is available for this position. Applicants will be invited to complete required testing. Reference the Information Guides for the following tests: EEI TECH (Test #5107).
