This position performs detailed surveys of existing equipment, cabling, pathways, power infrastructure, and site conditions to support engineering design, configuration, integration, relocation, installation, and decommissioning planning.
Installation and integration work may be assigned separately within an approved scope and the employee's qualifications. This position is considered a safety sensitive position and therefore is subject to the company's drug and alcohol policy and is eligible for random drug testing.
Essential Duties
‒ Lead job-start walkthroughs with customers and end users to confirm survey scope, required deliverables, access and escort needs, work restrictions, and site safety requirements.
‒ Perform and lead surveys of transmission, data and cloud equipment, AC/DC power, UPS and battery systems, fiber and copper cabling, pathways, grounding, and supervisory or alarm systems.
‒ Capture equipment inventories, rack elevations, fiber and copper counts, cable connections, pathway measurements, power-source identification, and grounding observations within the authorized survey scope.
‒ Read and interpret job specifications, floor plans, equipment drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, methods of procedure (MOPs), and available test records. Document discrepancies between field conditions and existing records.
‒ Prepare complete survey packages, including completed templates, labeled photo logs, marked-up drawings, equipment and cable schedules, and a list of discrepancies, constraints, and unresolved questions. Clearly identify information that could not be verified.
‒ Assign daily work, supervise survey team members, coordinate site access and escorts, conduct safety briefings, and track progress against the work schedule. Provide clear updates on completed work, remaining work, and issues affecting completion.
‒ Review the team's field documentation before submission for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with customer requirements. Correct omissions and resolve discrepancies before leaving the site where practical.
‒ Perform in-process and final quality reviews of survey deliverables and any assigned installation work. Follow company and customer safety, administrative, and documentation requirements.
‒ Additional installation responsibilities when assigned:
‒ Equipment, common systems hardware, wiring, or circuit additions, modifications, and removals; software additions or upgrades; equipment testing, turn-up, and integration.
‒ Battery additions or removals and work on operating power distribution systems, performed only by personnel qualified and authorized for the specific activity.
‒ Supervision of high-risk activities, hot cuts, and cutovers; crew work assignments; customer coordination; drawing corrections; and in-process and final quality inspections.
Core Responsibilities
‒ Takes ownership of daily survey activities, assigned crew members, customer coordination, and the accuracy and completeness of the survey package.
‒ The lead identifies discrepancies, access constraints, and execution risks and escalates items requiring engineering or customer direction.
‒ Coordinate with customers, vendors, engineering, and project management to resolve scope or drawing questions through defined processes. Escalate items requiring approval or technical direction.
‒ Maintain required company and customer records, drawing updates, work schedules, MOPs, risk documentation, test records, and completion reports as applicable. Review assigned team members' time and expense documentation for accuracy.
