Atlas Data Storage is revolutionizing the field of information technology by innovating molecular data storage solutions. At Atlas, we are developing a massively parallel, high-throughput, semiconductor-based information storage technology by leveraging the unique properties of synthetic DNA. Working at Atlas means being part of something bigger than yourself, where every person in every role has the opportunity to make a difference. We are looking for highly self-motivated and innovative candidates to join our team and help us build the future of information technology. About the Role This is a unique opportunity to join a talented team of scientists and engineers focused on solving critical challenges in molecular data storage. As a Principal Scientist in technology development, you will serve as the primary subject matter expert and scientific leader driving the design, development, and optimization of our electrochemical devices. You will spearhead the integration of complex electrochemical systems with our semiconductor platforms, guiding the strategic direction of our sensor architecture. The ideal candidate is a highly experienced, rigorous, and detail-oriented experimentalist with a proven track record in commercializing electrochemical biosensors and a passion for driving innovation in a highly interdisciplinary environment. Responsibilities Serve as an Electrochemist individual contributor and subject matter leader for the design, development, and optimization of next-generation electrochemical CMOS devices. Develop an optimized solution for acid generation from an array of CMOS based electrodes. Develop and execute complex workflows that integrate advanced electrochemical detection methods with our high-density semiconductor platforms. Design, develop, and execute comprehensive electrochemical characterization protocols to evaluate sensor performance, sensitivity, and reliability. Process and analyze complex experimental data to troubleshoot technical issues, guide sensor optimization, and drive project direction. Maintain detailed and meticulous records of all experimental work and analysis. Effectively communicate experimental results, data analysis, and strategic next steps to team members and executive leadership. Contribute as a scientific leader while thriving in cross-functional collaborations between our synthesis, engineering, sequencing, and bioinformatics teams. As needed, lead complex projects associated with our CMOS platforms. Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior scientists and research associates. Qualifications Advanced degree (PhD) in Electrochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Physics or a closely related field. >5 years of relevant academic / industry experience specifically focused on the research, development, and commercialization of electrochemical biosensors. Deep, hands-on expertise in advanced electrochemical techniques (e.g., cyclic voltammetry, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, ac voltammetry, chronoamperometry) and sensor characterization on solid substrates. Strong understanding of electron transfer kinetics at microelectrodes. Proven track record of developing ultra-sensitive electrochemical bioassays and integrating them with microelectronic or semiconductor devices. Experience in optimizing electrode interfaces and solution formations to increase current densities at an electrode. Experience in performing electrochemistry on high density electrode arrays is desirable. Strong data analysis and scripting experience is highly desirable. Experience in a biotech or pharma R&D environment is highly desirable. Must be a creative and detail-oriented person with excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills. Exceptional collaboration skills and ability to work seamlessly in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Physical Demands & Work Environment Work will be performed onsite in office and laboratory space located in South San Francisco. Mobility: Must be able to move about the laboratory and office environment regularly. This includes standing and walking for extended periods, often up to 6–8 hours per day. Manual Dexterity: Must have fine motor skills and steady hands to handle delicate instruments, operate laboratory equipment, pipette accurately, and perform repetitive benchwork with precision. Lifting/Carrying: Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds occasionally, such as boxes of lab supplies or equipment. Visual Acuity: Must have sufficient visual acuity to read small print on labels, instrument displays, and computer monitors. Close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus are required. Environmental Conditions: Frequently exposed to typical laboratory conditions, including biological samples, chemicals, and reagents. Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as lab coats, gloves, and safety goggles as required. #J-18808-Ljbffr atlas-data-storage
