EMT | Gundersen Health System Ambulance - West Union | Casual On-Call

About the Position Gundersen Health System Ambulance (GHSA) is seeking a casual on‑call EMT to join our West Union, IA ambulance team, providing advanced pre‑hospital patient care across nearly 1,000 square miles of Iowa and Wisconsin. Location: West Union, IA ambulance station. Responsibilities Respond to emergency and non‑emergency calls, treating and transporting patients. Operate as a crew member on the ambulance in both Rural 911 and inter‑facility transfer environments. Provide EMT‑level clinical care to patients of all ages in accordance with Gundersen Medical Direction policies, protocols, and standards. Support Incident Command System and Certified Emergency Vehicle Operation (CEVO) training and operations. Shift & Compensation Casual/on‑call (non‑benefit eligible) position with 12‑ and 24‑hour shifts. Must work a minimum of 24 hours of open shifts per month. Start pay of $17.93 per hour, increasing with experience. After new employee orientation, perform 10x12‑hour ride‑along shifts with a Field Training Officer. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalency. National Registry Emergency Medical Technician – Basic (NREMT) Certification. Wisconsin Emergency Medical Technician – Basic (EMT‑B) by time of start; Iowa EMT license within 90 days of hire. Valid Wisconsin, Minnesota, or Iowa driver’s license. Current Infant‑Adult Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers. Certified Emergency Vehicle Operation (CEVO) or equivalent and IC100, 200, and 700 course certificates within 60 days of hire.
