Nurse Manager Patient Flow

Salary range: $147,638 - $228,841/year. This role offers in-state or out-of-state relocation assistance for candidates with one year of relevant experience who have not worked at St.Charles Health System in the last year. Job Title Nurse Manager, Patient Flow Reports To Director of Care Coordination and Patient Flow Department Transfer Center and Central Communications Position Overview The Nurse Manager of Patient Flow is responsible for the management of the Transfer and Communications Center that coordinates the logistics of patient placements and throughput. The role also manages centralized scheduling and staffing as well as logistics and patient safety attendants. The position requires strong leadership of a multidisciplinary team and serves as the operational leader for patient movement between the St.Charles Health System sites and other community and regional facilities. Essential Functions and Duties Ensure the 24/7 operation of assigned departments. Manage resources, ensuring appropriate and sufficient equipment and supplies. Oversee staffing and scheduling, providing productivity oversight and review. Develop and implement an annual plan with unit goals in partnership with the director and supervisor. Serve as a real‑time resource, providing clinical expertise and problem‑solving assistance for staff. Represent the department to all customers and assist with quality, safety, customer service and regulatory compliance oversight. Coordinate quality initiatives and process improvements, aligning with St.Charles Health System metrics and quality initiatives. Ensure team competency in safe communication practices with HAA agencies, EMTALA, Joint Commission regulations, and state/local transportation regulations. Maintain compliance with labor contracts and staffing laws, and ensure all staff are current with safety requirements. Design and maintain the budget, monitor operational targets, and achieve all accountability goals. Hire, direct, coach, and monitor performance of all direct reports to build a high‑performance team. Implement and manage all organizational safety directives and goals. Provide customer service that promotes goodwill, timeliness, efficiency, and accuracy. Collaborate with teams to review processes and implement improvement opportunities using Lean tools. Create a healing environment that supports all aspects of care, respecting diverse cultural backgrounds. Act as a champion of continuous improvement and uphold the organization’s values of accountability, caring, and teamwork. Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures, maintaining professionalism and confidentiality. Perform additional duties of similar complexity as required or assigned. Education Required: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (BSN). Preferred: Master’s degree in nursing. Licensure / Certification / Registration Required: Current Oregon RN license, valid Oregon driver’s license, and ability to meet St.Charles Health System driving requirements. Preferred: Air ambulance or other aircraft dispatch training, or Certified Flight Communicator course completion. Experience Required: Minimum five (5) years of clinical nursing experience in an acute care setting and one (1) year of leadership experience. Preferred: Experience in a specialty area of nursing. Demonstration of SCHS values of Accountability, Caring, and Teamwork in all interactions. Physical Requirements Communicate clearly using a voice that can be heard over normal speech volume. Perform routine tasks such as sitting, standing, walking, lifting 1–10 lbs., and keyboard operation. Occasional bending, climbing stairs, and reaching overhead. Rare lifting of 11–25 lbs. No ladder climbing, carrying >25 lbs. No exposure to heat, cold, wet/slippery area, noise, dust, vibration, chemical solution, or uneven surface. No risk for blood‑borne pathogen exposure. Other Job Information Schedule: 40 hours per week, 40% regular shift, first shift. This is an exempt managerial position.
