Part-Time Custodian

Re‑1 Valley School District is seeking a dependable, hardworking, and self‑motivated part‑time custodian to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming learning environment for students, staff, and visitors. Position Details Position Type: Maintenance/Custodial – Part‑Time Date Posted: 6/3/2026 Date Available: 06/22/2026 Salary: Starting at $16.79/hour on Classified Hourly Schedule FLSA Status: Non‑Exempt Work Calendar: Part‑Time, Year‑Round (approximately 15‑20 hours per week, flexible schedule, afternoon/evening preferred) Essential Duties and Responsibilities Clean and sanitize classrooms, restrooms, offices, hallways, and common areas. Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and maintain floors and surfaces. Empty trash and recycling containers. Replenish restroom and custodial supplies. Assist with setup and cleanup for school events and activities. Monitor the building for maintenance or safety concerns and report issues promptly. Perform minor maintenance tasks as assigned. Ensure building security by locking doors and securing facilities at the end of shifts. Operate custodial equipment safely and effectively. Follow district safety procedures and cleaning protocols. Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred. Previous custodial, maintenance, or cleaning experience preferred but not required. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong attention to detail and reliability. Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical tasks throughout the workday. Must successfully complete required background checks. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Basic understanding of cleaning methods and equipment. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Strong work ethic and dependability. Ability to interact positively with students, staff, and community members. Commitment to maintaining a safe and clean educational environment. Physical Requirements Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, lifting, carrying, and climbing. Ability to work around cleaning chemicals and equipment. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Working Conditions Exposure to cleaning chemicals and varying temperatures. Frequent lifting, bending, standing, and walking.
