Certified Athletic Trainer

Job Description At GDIT, you will serve as a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) supporting agency personnel in a Human Performance Program. Your responsibilities include injury prevention, acute and rehabilitative care, performance optimization, and ensuring safe, effective sports medicine services are delivered alongside interdisciplinary staff and leadership. Key Responsibilities Provide HP services within the scope of practice defined by the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA). Design and fabricate protective pads, equipment, and braces to help prevent and treat injuries, including the use of taping techniques. Provide instruction and guidance within the scope of practice. Participate in periodic meetings to review patient care and identify improvement opportunities. Act as an advisor to the HP Program Manager/Coordinator on injury prevention, sports medicine, rehabilitation, and administration. Assist in purchasing supplies, equipment, and supplemental fiscal requests. Collaborate across the HP program to enhance patient care quality. Conduct equipment, product, and literature reviews to keep HP up‑to‑date. Participate in quarterly peer (record) reviews for non‑privileged healthcare providers. Attend and participate in meetings with other program staff and medical personnel as required. Assist in developing and updating criteria‑based job descriptions and performance standards. Help develop and maintain clinical practice guidelines ensuring consistency across all HPTCs. Support preparation of short and long‑term fiscal plans. Develop and promulgate training materials as requested. Ensure safe operation of equipment used for patient care. Attend required training and conferences to maintain certification. Perform clinical and administrative tasks as assigned. Document care, utilization, referrals, and other data in the Military’s Electronic Health Record or HP Enterprise‑wide database. Collect and report all data as requested. Utilize computers and relevant software efficiently. Lift and manipulate up to 25 kilograms. Required Qualifications Minimum of 5 years of continuous experience as an ATC with athletes or military personnel, preferably at NCAA, Olympic, professional, or military settings. U.S. citizenship. Master’s Degree in Athletic Training. Current NATABOC certification. Experience in strength and conditioning highly recommended. Valid unrestricted license from any U.S. state or territory. Commitment to obtaining CSCS certification within the first year if not already held. Maintain good standing credentials at the applicable MTF. Physical capability to hike rough terrain, function in austere environments, and lift/manipulate equipment. Additional Requirements Secret or Top‑Secret clearance, or the ability to obtain clearance. Contingent posting expected to start in 2026. Locations: Various OCONUS & CONUS sites (e.g., Hurlburt Field, Fort Walton Beach, FL). Scheduled weekly hours: 40. Travel required: less than 10%.
