WEEKENDS REQUIRED BASED ON STAFFING NEEDS

Summary: Under the direction of department management and according to policies and procedures, the Respiratory Therapist, Senior demonstrates advanced knowledge in respiratory care. The Respiratory Therapist II administers competent patient care through airway management, mechanical ventilator management, oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, and other respiratory procedures to assess, prevent, and treat respiratory dysfunction. Responsibilities: Administers respiratory care including aerosol medication delivery, pulmonary function testing, breathing exercises, oxygen therapy, and arterial punctures. Manages airways including tracheostomy care, tube changes, intubations, and extubations. Performs pulmonary function testing as needed. May be required to be on-call during days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Performs ventilator care, including setup, verification, monitoring, and weaning techniques. Maintains and updates professional knowledge and skills. Works independently and serves as a resource to other staff. Other Information Education Requirements: Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program. Licensure/Certification Requirements: Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification by NBRC required. Current Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) with extensive experience may qualify. All must have relevant certifications such as ACLS, NRP, PALS, CPFT, or advanced practice certificates, as applicable. Professional Experience Requirements: Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Ability to interpret clinical and technical information, communicate effectively, and apply mathematical and reasoning skills to clinical situations.
