Senior Software Engineer, Substrate

Salary: $147,000 - 187,000 per year Requirements:

• 4+ years of professional software development experience in core infrastructure, with a strong focus on operational excellence
• 2+ years contributing to system design or architecture, including architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling for new and existing systems
• Bachelors degree in Computer Science or an equivalent qualification
• Systems programming background with strong proficiency in Go, C/C++, or a similar language
• Hands-on experience with infrastructure automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, or Kubernetes operators, plus solid coding ability in Go, Java, or similar for automation and scripting
• Deep knowledge of hardware and operating system configuration, diagnostic tooling, and networking fundamentals
• Strong familiarity with containers such as Docker and orchestration with Kubernetes at scale
• Experience with a cloud provider such as AWS, Azure, or GCE, or sysadmin/SRE experience in data centers
• Experience designing, building, and running high-scale observability or infrastructure platforms
• Working understanding of networking fundamentals, with exposure to CNIs or cloud networking infrastructure preferred

• Design and build Palantirs managed Kubernetes offerings across on-premises, cloud hyperscaler, internet-connected, and air-gapped environments
• Bootstrap and operate the full fleet of Kubernetes clusters with no manual intervention by creating robust tooling and contributing to core CNCF components
• Improve scale, reliability, and security across varied compliance requirements and hosting environments
• Develop automation and set standards for secure, large-scale Kubernetes operations with zero manual overhead
• Drive adoption of new Kubernetes capabilities and CNCF tools, including upstream contributions where needed
• Shape the next generation of our infrastructure through a deep understanding of our internal systems and CNCF standards
• Anticipate production issues early, perform deep root-cause analysis, and invest in automation and self-healing systems
