Obstetrical Technician, Special Delivery Unit (Full Time and Part Time DAY openings, 12hr shifts)

Job Summary This position, part of the new Special Delivery Unit (SDU) opening in 2026, seeks OB technicians experienced in labor and delivery with an emphasis on fetal interventions. The SDU will provide care for high‑risk families in a single location for both delivery and specialized post‑delivery care. The role requires assisting with fetal intervention procedures, triage, and the LDRP and operating room team, while ensuring high quality, family‑centered care. Responsibilities Assist in operating room and delivery room settings within scope of practice. Support triangular fetal intervention procedures, including intra‑uterine procedures. Participate in triage, LDRP and OR workflows. Maintain quality standards per hospital policies and procedures. Clean and prepare instruments, equipment, and rooms between cases. Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams. Experience Minimum one (1) year of operating room experience in OB specialty. Preferred: One (1) year of experience with fetal procedures. Education High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent. Graduate of Surgical Technology program or military training. Preferred: Associate or Bachelor’s degree coursework. Specialized Skills Professional English communication and ability to remain calm under pressure. Critical thinking, independent work, problem‑solving, prioritization and organization. Collaboration with surgical team and cleaning between cases. Attention to detail, vigilance, poise, and composure in stressful situations. Required Certifications Certified Surgical Technician. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Work Environment & Physical Activity Requirements Medium functional demand with high energy level. Responsibilities include lifting 40–50 lbs, pushing/pulling 150–200 lbs, and lateral transfers of 150–200 lbs. Physical activities involve bending, climbing, keyboard use, repetitive motion, and standing. Must meet vision, hearing, color discrimination, and environmental safety standards.
