Sr. Associate Special Assets, Loan Workout Position w Premier Private Credit Firm in New York

Looking for a Special Assets Senior Associate, Loan Workout position with 4–6 years of experience in Restructuring, Leveraged Finance, Direct Lending, Private Credit, or Investment Banking with exposure to stressed and distressed credits with a Premier Private Credit firm in New York .

The Special Assets team at Premier Private Credit firm focuses on managing stressed and underperforming credit investments, evaluating restructuring and recovery alternatives, and maximizing value across portfolio companies. The Associate will work closely with deal teams and senior professionals to assess credit performance, liquidity, and recovery prospects while supporting complex restructuring and amendment processes.

This role requires a highly analytical professional who can evaluate distressed situations, build financial models, and collaborate across internal and external stakeholders to achieve optimal outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and monitor a portfolio of stressed and underperforming credits, including owned portfolio companies.
• Re-underwrite actionable credits with a focus on liquidity, operational performance, and recovery prospects.
• Evaluate restructuring, amendment, waiver, and recovery alternatives through detailed financial analysis and scenario modeling.
• Support value creation and recovery strategies for portfolio companies and credit investments.
• Participate in negotiations with financial sponsors, management teams, lenders, and other stakeholders across the capital structure.
• Prepare internal memos, portfolio updates, restructuring materials, and investment committee presentations.
• Contribute to deal team discussions by identifying key risks, opportunities, and recommended courses of action.

Credit Analysis & Transaction Execution

• Build and maintain financial models including liquidity analysis, downside cases, recovery analysis, and debt waterfall scenarios.
• Assess covenant compliance, cash flow performance, and short-term liquidity forecasts.
• Analyze complex credit situations and develop recommendations for restructuring and recovery strategies.
• Stakeholder Management & Leadership
• Work closely with deal teams, senior investment professionals, financial sponsors, management teams, restructuring advisors, and legal counsel.
• Support negotiations and documentation related to amendments, waivers, restructurings, and recovery initiatives.

Experience

• 4 – 6 years of experience in Credit Workouts, Restructuring, Leveraged Finance, Direct Lending, Private Credit, or Investment Banking.
• Prior experience evaluating stressed or distressed credits and participating in restructuring situations is preferred.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline with a strong academic record.

Skills

• Strong analytical and quantitative skills with a solid foundation in corporate finance, accounting, and credit analysis.
• Advanced Excel modeling skills, including liquidity forecasting, scenario analysis, recovery analysis, and debt waterfall modeling.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex situations clearly and concisely.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
