Fiber Splicer

Peyton Resource Group is hiring an experienced Fiber Splicer for a telecommunications infrastructure project in the Janesville, WI area. This is a hands-on field position focused on fiber fusion splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance . The ideal candidate has experience working with fiber optic systems in aerial and/or underground environments and is comfortable using fiber testing equipment. Responsibilities Perform fusion splicing of single-mode and multi-mode fiber Prepare, splice, and test fiber optic cable Read and interpret fiber matrices, splice schematics, utility maps, and construction prints Perform OTDR and power meter testing Troubleshoot fiber-related network issues and outages Install and maintain fiber enclosures, splice cases, terminals, and related hardware Maintain accurate splice documentation and testing records Work with construction crews, project managers, and field leadership Safely operate company vehicles and equipment Participate in on-call and emergency restoration work as needed Follow all company, customer, and job-site safety requirements Qualifications Previous fiber splicing experience preferred Hands‑on fusion splicing experience Experience using fusion splicers, OTDRs, and power meters Knowledge of telecommunications construction and fiber optic systems Ability to read maps, prints, and schematics Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills Valid driver's license required High school diploma or GED required CDL preferred but not required Industry certifications are a plus Willingness to travel as needed Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs. Ability to climb ladders and work in confined spaces Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work for extended periods Ability to distinguish color‑coded fiber cables This is an on‑site outdoor field position. Work may involve varying weather conditions, evenings, weekends, overtime, travel, on‑call rotations, and emergency restoration.
