Mechanical Technician

MechMaxx is a fast-growing heavy equipment brand offering pressure washers, wood chippers, log splitters, mini excavators, and related outdoor power machinery. We ship from warehouses in New Jersey, California, Illinois, and Texas and sell through a nationwide dealer network and major retailers. Our Linden, NJ location is our East Coast flagship, where we receive, inspect, prep, repair, and ship machines every day. The Role We are looking for a Mechanical Technician to support our service and warehouse team. This is a physical, hands-on role: you will be moving, loading, and staging heavy machinery, and working alongside our technicians to learn how to inspect, troubleshoot, and repair gas-powered and hydraulic equipment. You do not need to be an experienced mechanic to start. What you need is a strong work ethic, comfort with heavy physical work, basic mechanical aptitude, and a real interest in learning the trade. What You'll Do Heavy Lifting & Equipment Handling Load, unload, move, and stage heavy equipment such as log splitters, wood chippers, pressure washers, and mini excavators using pallet jacks, forklifts, hoists, and manual lifting Uncrate and assemble incoming machines; crate, palletize, strap, and prepare outgoing machines and parts for LTL and parcel shipment Receive and organize parts, components, and inventory in the warehouse and service area Keep the shop, warehouse, and yard clean, organized, and safe Mechanical Work & Learning Assist technicians with pre-delivery inspections, fluid checks, startup tests, and quality control on new units Learn to diagnose and repair small engines (Kohler, Honda, Ducar, and similar), hydraulic systems, pumps, belts, and electrical components under technician guidance Perform basic maintenance and repairs as you progress: oil and filter changes, spark plugs, carburetor cleaning, hose and fitting replacement, hydraulic fluid service, and component swaps Help process warranty and customer return units, including inspection, documentation, and photos of damage or defects Test repaired machines to confirm they operate correctly before they go back to a customer or into stock Follow all safety procedures for lifting, lockout, fuel handling, and operating equipment What We're Looking For Required Ability to regularly lift 50+ lbs and assist with team lifts of heavier items; comfortable standing, bending, kneeling, and working on your feet for a full shift Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort using hand and power tools Genuine interest in learning to repair engines, hydraulics, and heavy machinery Reliable, punctual, and safety-minded, with a willingness to take direction and follow procedures Ability to work in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures and outdoor yard work in all seasons Valid driver's license Preferred Experience in a warehouse, shop, construction, landscaping, automotive, or similar physically demanding environment Any experience with small engines, hydraulics, outdoor power equipment, automotive repair, or equipment assembly (hobby experience counts) Forklift certification or experience (we can certify you) Vocational, trade school, or technical program coursework in diesel, small engine, automotive, or industrial maintenance Bilingual English/Spanish or English/Chinese is a plus What You'll Learn How gas engines, hydraulic pumps and cylinders, and pressure washer pumps work and how to service them How to diagnose common failures on log splitters, chippers, pressure washers, and compact excavators Warranty inspection and documentation processes for a national equipment brand Safe rigging, lifting, and forklift operation for heavy machinery A clear path to grow into a Service Technician role as your skills develop What We Offer Competitive hourly pay based on experience, with growth as you build skills Paid on-the-job training with experienced technicians Health benefits and paid time off Forklift certification and safety training A stable role on a growing team with real opportunity for advancement #J-18808-Ljbffr
