Sales Engineer – Chemical Engineering BackgroundJoin Hire Hangar and work with fast-growing global companies while building a long-term career.Role Overview: We are seeking a Sales Engineer with a chemical engineering background to join a custom foam manufacturer serving industries such as medical, aerospace, automotive, industrial, and electronics. This role sits at the intersection of technical problem-solving and customer-facing sales. The ideal candidate listens carefully, understands the customer's real need, and translates it into a manufacturable solution. This is an on-site, hands-on role working directly with customers, manufacturing, and engineering teams in real time.Key Responsibilities:Manage and grow key customer accounts, building trusted relationships around both technical needs and business goalsServe as the technical bridge between customers and the manufacturing team, translating customer needs into buildable solutionsIdentify and pursue new sales opportunities through inbound leads and proactive outreachWork cross-functionally with engineering, estimating, manufacturing, and customer service to develop accurate, timely quotes and solutionsConduct occasional customer site visits and attend relevant trade shows or industry eventsMaintain accurate records of accounts, pipeline activity, and customer interactionsStay current on foam materials, applications, and industry trendsRequired Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, or a closely related technical fieldStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with comfort working through ambiguous customer requirements to reach a clear solutionGenuine enjoyment of customer interaction, with strong listening and communication skills and the ability to build trust naturallyAbility to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences without losing accuracyOrganized, self-motivated, and comfortable managing multiple priorities simultaneouslyComfortable working in a manufacturing environment and collaborating across departments on the floorMust be able to work on-site full time at one of the locations listed abovePreferred Qualifications:Experience in a technical sales, application engineering, or customer-facing engineering roleFamiliarity with polyurethane foam, polymer science, or materials chemistry in an applied settingExperience working at a small to mid-size manufacturerBackground in medical, aerospace, automotive, or industrial manufacturing marketsWe connect top talent with vetted employers, competitive pay, and real growth opportunities.
