divh2House Supervisor RN/h2pSt. Croix Health is looking for a full time (1.0 FTE), House Supervisor RN to join our team! This position works straight nights (7 pm - 7:30 am), every third weekend and holiday./ppThe House Supervisor is a representative of patient care/hospital administration on all shifts. The position safeguards the quality of patient care, meeting the needs and goals of St. Croix Health. The House Supervisor is responsible for the management and coordination of all hospital departments and personnel on the off shifts and weekends in the absence of direct line managers. Overall, the House Supervisor serves as an advocate for patient care, staff, and the hospital as a whole. Assuring high quality patient care services are provided in accordance with SCH mission/vision, values, service behaviors, policies/procedures, and regulations. The House Supervisor oversees effective patient placement, assures adequate staffing resources and safe and effective care delivery in the absence of the direct line manager and on all off shifts and weekends./ph3Essential Duties and Responsibilities:/h3ulliCompetent in the Emergency Department Nurse Staff Role/liliAct as a liaison between patient care units, support departments and organizational leadership, medical staff and other disciplines to assure safe and effective delivery of care in accordance with hospital policy/procedures and protocols or other clinical guidelines./liliSupport overall patient care departments operating goals and needs by managing the off shifts, weekends, and holidays according to established plans for safe and effective staffing to ensure high quality patient care./liliCollaborate with all disciplines, providers, and patient families to achieve mutually defined patient care goals./liliProvide shift oversight for patient care practices, nursing care accountability for safe and effective delivery of care./liliEnsure uninterrupted quality of care by assisting with transitions of care./liliAnalyze and evaluate complexities and volumes of nursing care required and adjust staffing resources accordingly./liliInitiate discipline as needed to address emergent needs in any department during the off shift and weekend coverage and when there is not a designated dept. supervisor readily available or in-house./liliConsult immediately with department leaders and/or administrators to review situations and processes to follow./liliParticipate in continuous quality improvement initiatives and risk management activities./liliMake critical adjustments and contacts to obtain needed equipment, services, and resources./liliConduct regular rounds to all clinical care units to ensure resource needs and clinical care needs are discussed, and solutions explored/implemented to support overall goals and patient care needs./liliProvide oversight and acts as a resource for clinical staff./liliIntervene in patient/family or provider complaints, supporting effective communication and conflict resolution. Provides necessary documentation of events and initiates appropriate follow-up./liliAct as a liaison to Infection Control; serving as clinical resource, ensuring negative air pressure status is achieved, assisting with employee TB skin testing, fit testing if necessary, obtaining necessary consents, and any other necessary function to assure that all infection control practices are in place and followed on a shift-by-shift basis./liliEnsure compliance with all regulations, hospital policies/procedures and protocols to maintain a safe patient care environment./liliServe as the risk management liaison; channeling issues in accordance with hospital policies/procedures and regulatory requirements. Supports timely and accurate reporting of all patient/visitor incidences, assists monitoring, and supports infection control and security standards established by the organization/department./liliPrimary responder and coordinator for emergency situations. Actively supports and is involved in Emergency Operations Plan and other related activities./liliRespond to all emergencies as a key member and coordinates as defined by policies and practices./liliProvide skilled patient care in the Emergency Department and Obstetrics./liliWill be assigned special projects to work on during administrative days./li/ulh3Qualifications:/h3pEducation Licensure:/pulliAssociates degree in nursing required/liliBachelors degree in nursing preferred/liliCurrent WI RN license required/liliBasic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire/liliAdvanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required upon hire/liliNeonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required within 6 months of hire/liliEmergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 6 months of hire/liliTrauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) required within 6 months of hire/li/ulpExperience:/pulli3-5 years of experience in acute care setting/lili2 years of Emergency Department preferred/liliPrevious charge or other leadership experience preferred/li/ulh3Competencies:/h3pKnowledge, Skills Abilities:/pulliExcellent communication and listening skills/liliDemonstrated ability to work independently with little direction and manage multiple demands and priorities/liliWork consists of moderately complicated procedures and tasks which require independent judgments such as setting task priorities; evaluating results; problem solving; and coordinating with others./liliNecessary to participate in continuing education as appropriate./liliCommitment to quality and follow SCH and department standards, policies, practices and procedures./liliAble to present a professional, collaborative, cheerful, caring, and sensitive attitude to patients, their family members, coworkers and visitors./liliCourtesy, tact and the ability to get along with coworkers as a team member, and the ability to keep sensitive information about patients and others strictly confidential is essential./liliSkills in understanding, explaining, teaching, selecting, developing, and motivating people are critical./liliIn-depth knowledge of the nursing discipline in combination with a high level of general knowledge of hospital operations is required./liliThe ability to plan and organize and communicate effectively is essential./liliThe ability to exercise initiative, judgment, discretion, decision-making, and problem-solving is vital./liliPosition requires a person who has good leadership, organization and teambuilding skills and a commitment to quality of care./li/ulh3Supervisory Responsibilities:/h3ulliCoordinate and manage staffing for Hospital Nursing staff for current and the oncoming shifts./liliManage bed placement assignments, monitor, and assist with direct transfer to the facility./liliEnsure safe patient assignments/liliIn depth knowledge of policies and procedures./liliServe on the Rapid Response Team and the Code team./liliRespond to critical events throughout the St. Croix Campus./liliTeam leads for incident command set-up/liliContact administration or department lead with critical matters/liliServes as representative for management on off shifts and weekends./li/ulh3Physical Requirements:/h3ulliProlonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer/liliProlonged periods of standing, bending, and reaching/liliMust be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times/li/ulpSt. Croix Health is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
