Assets Protection Specialist

Responsibilities Deliver an easy, inspiring, and friendly guest experience by greeting guests warmly and ensuring smooth, professional interactions. Assist guests with locating or resolving issues to support a seamless shopping experience. Conclude each guest transaction with a sincere thank‑you and maintain a positive, respectful attitude toward all. Support team efforts by assisting peers across departments while maintaining adaptability to business and guest needs. Ensure product availability and profitability by preventing and resolving theft and shortages. Use good judgment to resolve theft incidents, conduct apprehensions in shortage focus areas, and strictly follow Assets Protection policies and procedures. Identify and report theft trends by leveraging technology, surveillance tactics, and performance data. Gather and communicate intelligence on theft risks and close opportunities for improvement. Utilize video surveillance systems to monitor activity and identify potential theft risks. Respond to security incidents and submit proper documentation in accordance with AP policy and procedures. Promote a culture of safety and security for all team members and guests by providing awareness and training on safe practices. Demonstrate inclusive behaviors by valuing diverse voices, being authentic, respectful, and creating equitable experiences. Work safely at all times, comply with safety policies, and report and correct hazards. Maintain positive working relationships with public safety officials and law enforcement. Participate in legal proceedings as required to represent Target’s interests. Perform other duties as needed to meet business requirements. Qualifications Minimum 18 years of age and a high school diploma or equivalent. Ability to operate handheld scanners, frequency devices, and other technology equipment. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Capability to work independently and collaboratively with a team. Proficiency in managing workload, prioritizing tasks, and maintaining focus in a fast‑paced environment. Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and peak shopping periods. Physical ability to climb ladders, apprehend subjects, lift or move merchandise up to 40 pounds, and remain mobile during shifts. Willingness to work in varying temperatures, humidity, and other environmental conditions. Legal eligibility to work in the United States and meeting any state or local licensure or other legal requirements.
