Job Title: Production Control & Materials/Purchasing Specialist

Summary:

The Production Control & Materials/Purchasing Specialist is responsible for coordinating production schedules, managing material flow, maintaining accurate inventory levels, and supporting purchasing activities to ensure timely availability of materials. This role acts as a key liaison between production, procurement, suppliers, warehouse teams, and internal stakeholders to keep operations running smoothly and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

Production Control & Materials Management

• Coordinate and maintain production schedules to meet customer requirements and internal deadlines.
• Monitor material availability and proactively resolve shortages, delays, or constraints.
• Maintain accurate inventory levels through regular monitoring, transactions, and cycle counts.
• Ensure accurate setup and maintenance of BOMs, routings, and material master data in ERP/MRP systems.
• Issue, track, and close work orders to support production flow.
• Communicate production status updates and material risks to operations and leadership.
• Support continuous improvement efforts related to scheduling, inventory control, and material handling.

Purchasing & Supplier Coordination

• Create and issue purchase orders for raw materials, components, and consumables based on production needs.
• Maintain supplier communication to confirm delivery schedules, resolve discrepancies, and track order status.
• Assist in identifying alternative suppliers or materials during shortages or supply chain disruptions.
• Review supplier performance and escalate concerns related to quality, delivery, or pricing.
• Collaborate with procurement to negotiate pricing, lead times, and order quantities when applicable.
• Process purchase requisitions and ensure timely follow-up on open orders.
• Support cost‑reduction and sourcing initiatives.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, operations management, or related field preferred.
• Experience in production control, materials management, purchasing, or supply chain operations.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work cross‑functionally.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
