Job Summary
CNC machine operator capable of working well as a part of a team. With demonstrable understanding of CNC machinery, cutter lifetimes, and material parameters, capable of operating lathes and or mills as well as loading and unloading from work holding. Must be able to stand 8 hours a day and lift 50lbs un-assisted as well as adhering to strict process documentation and quality documentation.
Education and Experience
High School Diploma - or the equivalent (for example, GED)
Required experience with any of the following: HAAS, Heidenhain, Mazak Mazatrol, Fanuc, Fadal 88HS, or Okuma OSP.
Knowledge
Metrology ? Display understating of precision measuring equipment of various types, calipers, gauges, scales, and interferometers.
Machinery- Basic operational knowledge of CNC machinery, either mills or lathes.
Mathematics - Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and their applications.
Mechanical - Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, and maintenance.
Communication Skills - Demonstrate ability communicate effectively through documentation and interpersonally.

Technical Skills
- Equipment Maintenance- Performing routine maintenance on equipment as specified by maintenance scheduling.
- Operation and Control- Controlling operations of equipment or systems. Ability to load and store programs off controllers when requested to do so in a timely and specified manner.
- Operation Monitoring- Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
- Operation Verification ? Ability to work with programming and supervision when verifying a new program or process.
- Setups ? Ability to setup previously verified jobs in accordance to manufacturing documentation and operate machine upon completion of setup. Included within setups is the ability to utilize touch setters and manually setting tools on turrets, chains or carousels, when required.
- Code ? Must have a foundational understating of G-code and M-codes with an ability to demonstrate the basic G-code functions as well as required understanding of work coordinate systems and data tables.
- Fork Truck ? Ability to operate a fork truck or lift in narrow environment in a safe manner.
- Blueprint ? Ability to understand blueprints for parts and assemblies, GD&T a plus but not required.
- Metrology ? Demonstrates ability to measure dimensions per part print using a variety of measuring tools. Understands fractional dimensions and decimal tolerances down to the ten thousandth of an inch.
Primary Job Duties
- Machine parts to specifications, using machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines.
- Measure, examine, or test completed units to check for defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments, such as micrometers.
- Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, or materials onto machines.
- Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
- Check work pieces to ensure that they are properly lubricated or cooled.
- Operate equipment to verify operational efficiency.
- Confer with engineering, supervisory, or manufacturing personnel to exchange technical information.
- Dispose of scrap or waste material in accordance with company policies and environmental regulations.
- Separate scrap waste and related materials for reuse, recycling, or disposal.
- Calculate dimensions or tolerances, using instruments such as micrometers or vernier calipers.
- Operate basic or specialized machine tools used to perform precision machining operations.
- Maintain machine tools in proper operational condition.
- Evaluate machining procedures and recommend changes or modifications for improved efficiency or adaptability.
Tools and Technology
Manufacturing equipment: Grinders, belt sanders, drill presses, horizontal band saws, drum vacuums, lift trucks, overhead hoists, manual mills, manual lathes, cnc lathes, cnc mills.
Metrology Equipment: O.D. Micrometers, I.D. Micrometers, Dial Calipers, Vernier Calipers, Digital Calipers, Depth Micrometers. TESA-Hite, FARO Probe, and Laser Trackers.
Data Management: Microsoft Access, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel.
